Hawk Factory Canteen Refresh

This was a small, practical update to Hawk Furniture’s factory canteen, focused on making the breakout space more usable and comfortable for staff. The brief was straightforward: improve the existing area without major changes to the layout. The space worked, but it felt a bit one-note and didn’t offer much flexibility depending on how people wanted to use it.

The update introduced a mix of seating to better support different uses. Recently reintroduced Tulsa Seating brings in some variation in height and posture, as well as being robust enough for a factory setting and stackable if extra space is needed.

Tables were kept simple, using Trumpet Meeting Tables in Plain Grey and Distant Blue. The muted palette keeps things consistent across the space, while the slight shift in colour helps avoid it feeling too flat. Workbenches were also installed to give people the option to stand, lean or sit more casually, which suits shorter breaks and quick conversations.

Overall, it’s a modest intervention, but it’s made the canteen more flexible and easier to use throughout the day. The focus was on making small, functional improvements rather than redesigning the space completely.
