Hawk Furniture for BBC's DIY SOS

We’ve had to keep quiet, but we can finally share a glimpse of the DIY SOS project we were proud to be part of in Beverley earlier in the year. A proper team effort from start to finish, with a lot of hard work behind the scenes and some genuinely great people involved.

The Cherry Tree Community Centre in Beverley once gave local children a warm, safe place to play, make friends and find support. But when the pandemic hit, their building was turned into a food pantry, now helping more than 150 families every week. Nearly five years on, the youth club had nowhere permanent to go, meeting in the local park with nothing but a small gazebo for shelter.

The DIY SOS team, aided by the Gladiators and droves of volunteers, took on the challenge of building a new, purpose-built youth centre on the edge of the park to give young people a place they can finally call their own.

We supplied the Cherry Tree Youth Club with stackable Tulsa chairs and foldable Tilt Tables for the main area as they needed flexibility of use, plus Dayton high stools at the kitchen bar and made-to-measure upholstered seat pads with Austin stools in the snug.

It was a privilege for Hawk to contribute and see everything come together for a space that really makes a difference.
